MISSION STATEMENT
1. To work with the Holy Spirit to encourage and strengthen families through education and resources based on biblical principles.
2. To provide sound biblical counselling and mentoring to couples and families regardless of race, faith, social status and ethnicity.
3. To conduct seminars, conferences trainings and workshop designed to strengthen marriages and enhance the health of families.
4. To produce print material, books, magazines, e-zines, blogs, devotional and other relevant media necessary to reaching the target audience.
5. To help build marriages and families that honour God and accept the Lordship of Jesus, Christ.
PRINCIPLES
THE IMPORTANCE OF PERSONAL WITNESSING
Discipleship is the heartbeat of God. Our divine mandate is to disciple the nations. At TFLC, we believe that the ultimate purpose of life is to know and glorify God and to attain eternal life through Jesus Christ. This begins within our own families and then reaches out to a suffering humanity that needs to embrace His love and appropriate His redemptive sacrifice.
In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus commanded us to preach the gospel to the whole creation and disciple the nations. “He asked them to, ‘Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.’” We believe that healthy marriages and strong families are some of the most powerful ways to witness to a world suffering from diverse marriage crises and relationship breakdown.
MARRIAGE IS A LIFE-LONG RELATIONSHIP
Marriage is a sacred covenant designed by God to model the love of Christ for His people and to serve both the public and private good as the basic building block of human civilization. God purposed marriage to be a thriving, lifelong relationship between a man and a woman enduring through trials, sickness, financial crises and emotional stresses. Therefore, Christians are called to defend and protect God’s design for marriage and to minister in Christ’s name to those who suffer the consequences of the current assaults on the marriage. Matthew 19: 4-6 says “’that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ and , ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united with his wife, and the two will become one flesh’. So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let no man put asunder.”
CHILDREN ARE A GIFT FROM GOD
The Bible emphasises that children are heritage from God and a blessing from His hand. They are gifts from God and are to be raised to conform to the image of God. Parents are therefore accountable to God for raising, shaping and preparing them for a life of service to His Kingdom and to humanity.
Malachi 2: 15 says “Has not the Lord made them [a husband and wife] one? In flesh and spirit they are His. And why one? Because He was seeking godly offspring.”
THE IMPORTANCE OF THE MALE AND FEMALE GENDER
God created man in His image; he created male and female, each bringing unique and complementary qualities to sexuality and relationships. Sexuality is a gift from God. This is to be offered back to Him either in marriage for procreation, union and mutual delight or in celibacy for undivided devotion to Christ. Christians are called to proclaim the truth and beauty of God’s design and the redemption of sexual brokenness in our lives and culture through Jesus Christ.
The book of Romans chapter 12 verse 1&2 says “Therefore, I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable to God – this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing and perfect will.”
THE VALUE OF HUMAN LIFE
Man was created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth and significance in all its dimensions, including the preborn, the aged, the mentally disabled, those deemed unattractive, the physically challenged, and every other condition in which humanness is expressed from the single cell stage of development to natural death. Christians are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life.
Psalm 139 verse 13 & 14 says “For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”
